In partnership with the Government of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, hosted the Arctic Gateway Summit – Northern Directions on November 8 - 10, 2010 in Winnipeg.
The scope of the Arctic Gateway Summit included a focus on trade & corridors, indigenous participation and sustainable communities. Our goal was to bring together public, private and non-governmental stakeholders to collaboratively explore the emerging opportunities in the Arctic region. Up to 200 Canadian and international stakeholders attend the summit. Plenary sessions and breakout groups allowed the delegates to explore opportunities and challenges and create next steps to assist in the development of the Arctic Region as a trading portal and economic development zone. The principal outcome of the Summit is a report that will identifies our best trade and economic development opportunities over the short- and long-term and the resources and commitments required to make them happen.
